The Importance of Jesus' Birth
Every time I read or listen to Jesus’ birth story, I remember how powerful God is and I feel encouraged to continue living a life as His follower. Jesus’ birth wasn’t just a fulfillment of a prophecy. It was the turning point of the relationship between God and humanity. And, here is why.
Jesus is God on earth. Jesus' presence showed the people of his time (and us) that God is real. There is no longer any doubt about the existence and truthfulness of the Creator of the universe, the world, and all of us! (Matthew 1:23 and Luke 1:35)
Jesus is proof that God is accessible to all of us. Before Jesus was born, people used to relate to God through priests or other religious authorities. Jesus changed that. He demonstrated that we can have a personal relationship with God and no person needs to be an intermediary between Him and us. (Matthew 1:22-23)
Jesus clearly taught us how to live a life devoted to God. Jesus is our role model to keep growing in our relationship with God. As early as twelve years old, he began to go deeper into his faith (Luke 2:41-52). And as he grew up, he put into practice everything he had learned in order to teach us the best way to get closer to God.
Jesus came to give us a better life. This is the main reason for Jesus' birth! (Matthew 1:21). We all know the feelings, sensations, and thoughts that come from wrongdoing. There are times when we feel that guilt, sadness, weakness, etc. are controlling our lives. We feel and think that there’s no forgiveness for us. That’s a LIE! Jesus came into this world to take all our sins upon Himself on the cross. He died to offer us freedom! His sacrifice is God's way of telling us that we always have the opportunity to choose, think, and act differently. Isn't that incredible?! Who would be capable of doing that for all of humanity? Only Jesus!
Final Words
If Jesus wasn’t born, we wouldn’t have the most accurate evidence that God exists. We wouldn’t have the freedom to relate directly to God. We wouldn’t have the opportunity to be forgiven for our sins and keep moving forward. We wouldn’t have the option of living an abundant life. Jesus’ birth made it possible to live the best life we could possibly live in this world.
