Is Jesus Christ a Joke?

“He is a joke,” a man answered confidently in a social media video, after being asked if he believed in Jesus Christ.
His answer crushed my heart.
Those four words, “He is a joke,” bothered me for days. Why would someone say that about Jesus?
I know there’ll be people that don’t accept Jesus' way of life. And they have the right to make such a decision.
I’ve heard many negative and outrageous things people say about Jesus Christ. But, for some reason, this man’s words affected me deeply.
You might be asking why since it’s just a random video on the internet. Well, as a Christian, it’s hard to hear that the Savior of the world—and my life—is considered a joke.
The only person and deity in human history who decided to voluntarily die for every human—to give them the chance to live a God-driven life and not be defined by their burdens, errors, or flaws—can’t be a joke.
Jesus Christ is a serious statement for living a better life (John 10:9-10). He is real. He isn't a myth or a fiction character (John 20:30-31).
Jesus Christ is God and died and resurrected to show His love for humanity (John 1:1-5 and Romans 5:6-8).
Jesus Christ’s message is so convincing that it has been transforming lives for centuries. Many people around the world keep believing in Him and practicing His way of life no matter what others think about them (Romans 1:16 and Philippians 3:8).
I'm not sure what led the man on the video to make this statement. But there’s one thing I know: none of the negative things anyone could say about Jesus Christ can beat the unconditional, unchanging, and everlasting love He has for us.
Final Words
People will mock, reject, and question our faith. That’s inevitable.
However, as believers, our duty is to keep nurturing our faith by praying, reading, and studying the Scripture. These actions will give us the spiritual and mental fortitude and confidence to navigate any criticism of our faith.
Let’s remember to pray for people like this man, that one day they may know Jesus Christ as we do.
Take a Leap of Faith
Stand firm in your faith in Jesus Christ. Even when others express their negative opinions towards it, be faithful to the reason for your hope.
