We’re halfway on the series “Choose God: 4 Strategies to Draw Closer to Him Every Day” 🎉 Isn't it amazing to have options to relate to our Savior? An intentional and constant interaction with God makes our faith in Him stronger.
The first two posts of the series were dedicated to devotionals and gratitude. We learned their value and how to apply them in our spiritual lives. Today, I’m sharing a strategy that is considered the main source of our relationship with God due to its content. Are you ready to continue this discovery journey? Let’s go! 😃
Strategy #3 - The Bible: Where You Meet God 📖🎧
The Bible is a collection of sixty-six books. Its content provides the necessary information to learn, know, and understand the Christian faith. Better yet, the Bible is where you meet God. It’s transparent in showing God’s character. It holds stories of faith. It teaches how to relate to God and others. It has everything you need to live a life as a believer of the Triune God.
No matter how many years someone has been a Christian, what to read or where to start in the Bible could represent a challenge. If you feel identified with this, I’d like to introduce you to strategy number three: Bible reading plans. 🤓
Bible reading plans are structured guides that help you read portions of the Bible over a specific period of time—like a week, month, or year. This type of resource helps you to be consistent, organized, and purposeful in your time with God’s Word. Bible reading plans are written by Christian bible teachers, pastors, theologians, and writers to assist you in learning, understanding, and applying the content of the Bible in your life. Moreover, these resources can be focused on a particular Bible book or topics such as love, anxiety, fear, healing, prayer, anger, hope, peace, patience, loss, doubt, loneliness, and much more.
To start using this incredible and comprehensive resource, I encourage you to do the following.
Download a Bible app to your phone, tablet, or computer.
Bible reading plans can be found and completed through any of these devices. If you’d like to try this, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Go to your app store and download one of the Bible apps options listed below.
➡️ YouVersion App
➡️ Bible Gateway
➡️ First 5 (This application is focused on women. It has Bible reading plans and devotional content as well.)
➡️ Bible Study by Olive Tree
Step 2: Once you’ve chosen and opened the Bible app, go to its main menu and look for the “Reading plans” section.
Step 3: Choose the reading plan that matches your interests.
One of the great things about the digital format is that you can listen to the Bible. Many of these apps offer audio versions in different translations, making it easy to stay in the Word wherever you are.
A Kindly Note: Please, read the description of the apps before downloading it. Most of them are free. However, for some features you will need to pay a subscription fee.
Visit a Christian bookstore (physical or online).
What about if you don't want to read or study the Scripture on your phone or computer? No worries—I’ve got you covered! If you, like me, prefer the printed format, you’ll find great options at your favorite Christian bookstore or online. The list below has some options. Check them out and choose what is best for you!
📕 The Bible in 52 Weeks: A Yearlong Bible Study for Men and The Bible in 52 Weeks: A Yearlong Bible Study for Women
Doesn’t matter what format you choose, the main goal here is having a daily moment with God through his Word to strengthen your relationship with Him.
Final Words
The Bible is a MUST in our journey to grow as followers of Christ. It’s not optional. The core beliefs of our faith are found in it. Also, it’s the place where we look for words of comfort, hope, and encouragement in moments of need. I invite you to keep getting closer to God by reading it. You’ll be amazed at how strong your conviction in Him will grow!
Take a Leap of Faith
Are you committed to spending more time with God through his Word? Is there a particular book of the Bible or topic that you’d like to start reading about? Look for a Bible reading plan that guides you to learn, understand, and grow in that particular area.
