Have you ever heard about the Apostles’ Creed?
The Apostles' Creed is a brief statement of faith that sets out the fundamental beliefs of the Christian faith.
The Significance of the Apostles’ Creed
The Apostles' Creed was created around the II and III century B.C. to establish the fundamental beliefs of the Christian community.
The Apostles' Creed is important because, in a nutshell, it expresses what we believe as Christians. It’s a guide to keep us from straying from the fundamental and non-negotiable truths of our faith.
So what does the Apostles' Creed say? What are the those essential truths of the Christian faith? What can we not negotiate, alter, or change?

What Christians Believe In
Below you’ll find the Apostles' Creed and, therefore, the core beliefs of the Christian faith.
The Apostles’ Creed*
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church**,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

**The term catholic refers to something that is universal. It doesn’t refer to the Christian denomination of the Catholic Church. Here it’s referring to Christian church in general.
Final Words
It’s a blessing to have a resource that allows us to easily remember these essential beliefs of the Christian faith. The Apostles' Creed is a reminder of why we believe in God, why we follow Jesus, and why we commit ourselves to living a life as Christians. We are free to read it as often as necessary so that we don't forget what we believe as followers of the living God.
